A Long Night

This morning I heard Katy stirring about 4 AM and she suddenly sat up and said she felt strange. Moments later spasms started to toss her body around like a rag doll. The rescue squad came and got us to RMH but by that time she had been in full body spasms for over an hour. It took several doses of medication to quiet her body and by 8 AM they were over and she was released to come home. She is in so much pain this morning. Everything hurts, but more than that her disappointment is great. Please pray us through this day. Paul has gone to pick up some medication we can put into her cheek by eyedropper if the spasms start again. We pray they will stop and there will be no need to use it.

  1. Heather Kirkwood Says:

    Dearest Katy,
I’m so sorry to hear that this has happened again. I’m puzzled - but I know from being very, very sick myself and watching other friends be sick, that sometimes recovery is two steps forward and one step back. Please don’t get too discouraged while your doctors try to get to the bottom of this. Recovering can take time, and there are good days and bad days. I think of you often, and I’ll be praying for you over lunch. I’ve enjoyed trading e-mails so much! When you feel up to it, keep them coming!

  2. Carrie Thompson Says:

    Dear Katy,
Heather is right. We must not loose heart. We will continue to pray for you. Aren’t you thankful that God allowed you to feel better for the party?

    I love you, Katy.

    Love,
    Your Sister, Carrie

  3. Julie Wensley Says:

Oh Katy - I’m so sorry. I can only imagine how disappointed and exhausted you are. We are all going to keep praying you through this. We love you!

  4. Cecelia Says:

Katy, I am praying for you, your family, (each by name), and most especially for those attending to you. I love you, and I have mailed a letter to you, which should arrive tomorrow. Please share this email with your Mom (thank you for your call, Dawn.).
    In Christ,
    Cecelia

  5. Barbara Walker Says:

    Dear Katy and Family,

We will certainly pray you through this, praying each day several times as we have been. How disappointed you must be, but there is much hope in Christ! If we can be of some practical help, please let us know.

    In Christ,

    Barbara

  6. Karen Tillman Says:

    Dear Sweet Katy,

My heart really goes out to you at this moment in time. I hope you know that we have been praying and hoping for God to keep your spirits up, and make you well again. I am so glad that your family has kept us posted, and hope they will continue to do so. That way we can know how to pray and what your needs are. Please feel free to contact me at anytime.

  7. Laura Griffith Says:

What awful news…I was expecting to see happy pictures from the party but read about this long night instead. You are certainly in my prayers.

    In Christ,
    Laura

  8. Laura Says:

Man I wish I had something funny to say to cheer you up, but my funnyness seems to be a little on the low side right now. Was that funny? No not really (I just answered my own question, now that has to be funny). I continue to pray for you every night and everytime I read these entries, and everytime I head that song that I mentioned in one of my previous comments. I love you Katy, bunches of bananas, baby food that is. hehe

  9. Jennifer Blugerman Says:

    Katy,
I know this has been a rough day for you! I was amazed today when I was with you. You were so calm, and even managed to keep your sense of humor throughout the spasm! I know you were uncomfortable and extremely frustrated, but you remained strong and never lost your composure! Shucks, I have trouble keeping my composure when I can’t get my dog to come when I call him! You are an amazing, godly woman and I thank you for what you are teaching me and my children through this experience. Hang in there! God is always working behind the scenes! We love you!

    -Jennifer

  10. Lita Says:

    Dawn, this is for you!

I really believe that there is no greater humanly love, here on earth, than the love of a mother for her child. You are gently and quietly loving your baby. Katy knows this and that is great balm to her soul. May the Lord continue to give you the strength, energy, and courage to nurse your daughter back to health. As you bathe her face, and comfort her weary body, and whisper sweet words in Katy’s ears- words only a mother and daughter can share- listen for Him to whisper into yours, words only you and your Savior can share- “…you did this to Me” ( Matthew 25:40
Thank you for ministering to me, Dawn. ~~Lita

  11. Aunt Doris Says:

We are all - and rightfully so - thinking of Katy and her physical problems, but it hit me, reading Lita’s comment, that Dawn is bearing a heavy load in all this. God bless you, Dawn!

  12. Freddy Chakhachiro Says:

    Katy,
You are so sweet and also strong in the Lord. Just try to imagine how difficult this would be for someone without faith in the Lord. I know that when you get into the program in Maryland, you will talk to and evangelize the other girls who are dealing with this disease and their families. Some of them may actually be trying to get through this without God - without Jesus. How hard it must be for them and their families. How fortunate you and your family are that you are not doing this alone - you KNOW God is there with you. Stay strong by leaning on and relying on God - not your own strength. HE is strong enough to carry you through this. If you are tired today, rest. Tomorrow will be a better day.

    Freddy

  13. Sharon Pierce Says:

    Dear Sweet Katy,
Please know that I am continuing to pray for you throughout each day (and when God wakes me during the night). Do not be discouraged! Put your faith, hope and trust in God alone. Delight in God and worship Him in song today. Rest in Him as He works in you. May He shower you with His grace and infuse you with His peace, power and strength. Dawn, you also have a special place in my heart. Please share any specific prayer requests and let me know how I can serve and support you. May God bless and prosper your family as you rest and trust in Him alone. I love you both. Sharon

  14. Chris Griffith Says:

    Katy and Family

We will continue to pray for you. We are praying and asking the Lord to give the doctors wisdom to know how to properly respond to all that is happening to you. We know the Lord is merciful and he will never give us more than we can bear. His grace is sufficient, right? Nevertheless, we know you hurt and you are disappointed. Our prayers are with you. I pray the Lord would give me the kind of courage he’s given to you all during this time if I ever have to go through something so hard. You faith continues to be a testimony of God’s grace. May his name be praised!

    Chris
