Going Home

There really was a light at the end of the tunnel and it wasn’t a train! I am going home later this afternoon. Before I leave the hospital, I just want to thank Uncle Dan for creating this website. At times, I felt dispair and disconnected from my family and friends. My Dad would print all of your messages and bring them to me during my worst days and they encouraged me to keep going. It helped me feel connected and hopeful. Then, one day, I was able to view the website for myself. Ever since that time, I wake up in the morning looking forward to visiting with you via this site. So Uncle Dan, you are the best!

Lord willing, my next update will be from Home Sweet Home!

  1. Carrie Thompson Says:

    Dear Katy,
I’m so glad you are going home. The Lord has answered our prayers.

Psalm 148:5, “Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.”

Psalm 106:1, “Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.”

I am still praying for you. I love you. Hope you have a great day!

  2. Dan Wensley Says:

Oh Katy! It is our privilege to serve each other with any ability God has given us. You’ve always been a blessing to our family, so we thank God that we have been able to help in any way. The real sacrifice was giving up Julie for your sleepovers. Glad that’s over!

We are praising God for you, and that you are able to spend some time at home. Have a great time and bask in the glory of God’s provision. Yeah Katy!

  3. Heather Kirkwood Says:

That’s great, great news! Katy is getting out! HA! Please keep us updated after you get home - your HPS friends (that you don’t even know yet) will want to know how you’re doing.

I love the part, “and it wasn’t a train!” HHAA!!

Thank God for answered prayers - and we’ll keep praying for you as you get back to your old self.

  4. April Lang Says:

YEA!!! SO GLAD you are going home!!! I will be by as soon as I can to visit!!! The Lord is GOOD! What a PRECIOUS Savior we have and a most close and intimate friend!

Love you! So glad you are better!
    Your Sister!

    April :-)

  5. Deana Wescott Says:

It has been a privilege to meet you, even under these circumstances. Thank you for all you have taught me; you are an extraordinary woman. I hope to see you again outside of the hospital. Keep getting stronger!

  6. Collmus Family Says:

    August 18, 3:30 p.m.
    Dear Katy,
Remember me? Oma. I have been thinking about so much since Jackie and John were here last weekend, and they fixed up my computer so I can get daily news of your improvement. I am so happy that you are going home this weekend. I thought that your grandfather’s 80th birthday wasn’t until next year–I must have the wrong year in my book!
Today there were 27 folks at my house for brunch. Our swimming aerobics group was celebrating the 90th birthday of one of our members–indeed a very happy occasion.
Have you ever head of a country in Africa called Lesotho? That’s where my granddaughter Rachel is going in November with the Peace Corps.
Will keep on praying for you.
    Much love,
P.S. Whatever happened to our plans for me to smock a dress for you??!!

  7. Danae Says:

Yay! Katy’s coming home *does little dance in Katy’s honor*…but I’m leaving. How ironic!!!

I love you, Katy! You will continually be in my thoughts and prayers, and I promise to come visit you soon.

  8. Estel Says:

Yippee - you get to go home. That’s wonderful! I hope you continue to feel better.

And, yes, as Heather says, there is a whole group of HPS adults, and parents of little HPSers (like me) out there. My little one is very interested in “India people who are white all over and get lotta bruises,” like her! :-)

Take good care & enjoy being home!

  9. Laura Says:

Give me an H *h* give me an O *o* give me an M *m* give me an E *e* what does that spell?! HOME!!! Katy’s going home, Katy’s going home!!!! (picture me singing this at the top of my lungs extremely badly hehe, that alone should make u smile)It’s your birthday, it’s your birthday. Well not really but I just felt like saying that. {(16 days 3 hours 45mins)don’t worry I didn’t actually count that, i just looked at the counter thingy on ur myspace} Well there was a train at the end of the tunnel, it was just one that was coming to take you home sweet home! It’s such great news that you’re going home. Now you get to sleep in your bed, smell your lovely house instead of stinky sterilized hospital smell, and you get to pet Ellie nonstop. I bet she misses you like crazy. Love you bunches Katy!!!! And have lots of fun at HOME!

  10. Grandma & Granddad Says:

Katy, we are all excited about seeing you in two more days. What a great celebration that will be! Hopefully we won’t tire you out too much.

We went to Sherando Lake today, all 17 us. It was a fun day and everyone, except Dave, had a chance to go kayaking. Laurel and Savannah were the only ones who wanted to go swimming. They were only in the water for a few minutes and Laurel cut her foot on something in the water. That ended the fun in the water. Uncle Todd took her for first aid and bandaged her foot.

We have been staying up so late since Dave’s family arrived last Saturday, so we are getting ready for an early bedtime. Aunt Carrie’s plane arrives tomorrow at 6:18 p.m. and we are all invited to Aunt Jackie’s for dinner after we pick up Carrie. It will be another late night for most of us.

We thank God that you are at your “home sweet home” with your family again. See you on Sunday.

    Love and Prayer,
    Grandmom & Granddad

  11. Donna Rowe Says:

YAHOO!!! I just found this note from you! AND YOU GET TO COME HOME! We dearly miss you. We have not ceased to pray for you and God’s peace to be with you. You are so very important in His plan. Your whole life reflects the miraculous, wonders of Him.
We miss you. Please let us know when you feel up to visitors.
    Loving you,
    Donna Rowe

  12. Trisha Ferris Says:

God is good & He’s still on His throne & He’s working all things for our good & His glory. I have certainly seen glimpses of His glory in your life these past weeks. What an encouragement to all your brothers & sisters in Christ to persevere.
    In the Lamb,

  13. David Blugerman Says:

We’re so proud of you! Thank you for teaching us about poise, confidence, sincerity and perserverance in the face of trials! It is a joy to pray for you and your family. Keep fighting the good fight!

    -Pastor David
