Normal is Great

The best part about today was how normal everything was. Katy got up and took care of her medications and daily routine by herself. Then she took a nap. We went to the doctor this afternoon for another brief check up and came home for another nap. It was great! I got home from my evening walk and Katy had already fixed herself something to eat. She is doing so well. I am amazed by her energy today. The withdrawal symptoms ended by Sunday evening and she is completely free of pain medication. This is just the greatest normal day we’ve had in a long time and we thanked God for it several times.

I once saw a book called Normal Is Just A Setting On Your Clothes Dryer. But I think normal is so much more than that. It’s getting through the day by the Grace of God, and wondering why we aren’t more thankful for an uneventful “normal” day. Normal is a gift. We’re back to normal and our hearts are full of gratitude.

Normal? I’m not sure I know what that is exactly! I love the name of that book by Karen Hughes “Ten minutes from Normal”. I haven’t read it, but love the title. Most days I feel at least ten minutes from normal!

Seriously, I understand what you’re saying. We do need to be thankful for everything, don’t we. Dawn, you have such a great way of communicating. I think it’s a special gift that you have to take the normal ordinary everyday things and help people to see God at work.

    Love you guys.

I don’t think you could have said that better. So an absolute Amen! to the definition of normal. Please tell Katy, that I said, “Hello, and I am so happy that recovery is back on track!!!” To God be the glory!
    Take care
