We're Moving

Yet another answered prayer! Five o’clock tonight is when UVA will have a bed available. Dad, Mom, and Julie are packing up Katy’s room as fast as they can as I type. Katy will be taken via ambulance 2 hrs up the road to UVA where an empty bed awaits her. This is a testimony to our Heavenly Father’s response to our prayers: a woman here at RMH told my mom that a bed was now available, and that she was very surprised that it happened that quickly. Mom replied “I’m not really surprised; we have hundreds of people praying for us!” The woman smiled and said “I guess you do!” UVA is currently on diversion status, meaning they are actually sending patients entering UVA to other hospitals because they’re so full. This truly IS an answered prayer!

Dad will drive up separately, and Mom will either drive or go with Katy in the ambulance - not sure which yet. We will try to keep blogging with updates. Thanks to all of you for lifting our needs up as a fragrant offering before God! He is kind and merciful!

Please pray:

  • That Katy will be stabilized quickly at UVA.
  • That those nasty little details won’t cause problems (like forgetting to pack things, etc).
  • For Katy’s pain to be quickly reduced and spirit to be encouraged - she had a painful day today.

  1. Trisha Ferris Says:

    Katy & Family,
I hope you guys get to see the comments tonight, but if not, then on Sunday. I’m so grateful to the Lord for this provision for you. But now I may have to go to C’ville to see you! Probably not, because we’re going to pray that the docs there help you quickly & that your stay there will be short. What I really want to see is you in your own house. I know that’s what you want, too. May this “momentary” suffering result in great glory & honor to our great God & in your continued salvation.
    Love in the Lamb,
    Trisha Ferris

  2. Carrie Thompson Says:

    Dear Katy,
We are praying for you. Expsecailly that the move would go smoothly.

Today we worked on a flower bed out front in out yard–we didn’t even get it dug!! Mom is going to plant daffodils & hyacinths in it soon.

Hope you have a great day! “This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

    Carrie :-)

  3. Jenice Pearl Says:

    Dear Katy and family,
The Pearls are praying for you, all you specifically requested and more. May His peace be yours as you travel and settle in.

Thanks for being diligent in keeping us posted. We’re praying and trusting God for a smooth transition, hasty healing, freedom from pain and a trip back home soon. We love you, Katy! Let your light shine in Charlottesville!

  6. Barbara Walker Says:

    Dear Katy and Folks,

Another unbelievable response to prayer from our Lord. We’re praying that the trip to Charlottesville will be smooth for all and Katy’s settling in will be pain free. UVA is a great teaching hospital and you should have access to wonderful people there.

Dawn, I remembered Jeffrey’s doctor’s name at UVA - it was Dr. Tim Pruett, surgeon and head of the liver transplant department there. He was truly wonderful, as were the rest of our contacts there.

Praying for you guys. The Lord is truly wrapping you in His arms right now!!

    Love in Christ,

  7. Heather Kirkwood Says:

Well, I’m looking at the clock, and you’re probably either on the road, or there by now. I hope all is going smoothly. I hope you can see out in the ambulance! It would be nice to get a glimpse of the outside world I’m sure. I hope after your eventful day that they’re able to do something for the pain and you get a restful night.

  8. Laura Says:

I was searching through my friends MySpaces and I came across one of the girls in my small groups. I clicked on it and she had a blog posted there about you. At my small group on Wednesday, we read your blog “The Heavenly Realm” not only because we were praying for you but because we just so happen to be studying Revelations. A lot of the people in my small group aren’t very strong Christians and when we read your story, they were so touched by it and they really see how real God is. I just wanted to paste into here what my friend Jen wrote about you in her blog. So here it is:

There is a website you all can go to and read her blog about everything that has happened to her since she has been in the hospital. Not only did her life story touch me, but the blog entries her family put up are even more touching to the point where you just want to break down and cry. There is one blog in particular though that absolutely amazes me. It’s called “The Heavenly Realm” and was posted on October 15th, 2006. I strongly suggest all of you to read it.
Katy is a huge inspiration. She’s been through so much pain and misery and is still strong in God. Katy has given me a new outlook on life and has made such an impact on who I am. She is one of the reasons I wake up every morning and am thankful for everything I have today. I appreciate the things I have and the people I spend my life with more than I ever did.
Katy Campbell, you are one of my heroes. For someone who’s going through so much physical pain and misery, you’re still extremely strong emotionally & spiritually. I can’t thank you enough for making such an amazing impact on my life. Please get better soon :]
I did not find this story on the news or online, one of my good friends from my youth group is very close to Katy and tonight at small group, my friend read a few of her blogs and touched my life. I wanted to break down and cry because it was so upsetting. I honestly think that you all should take the time out of your schedule to read this and check out her blog, it’s definitely worth it and it will touch your heart.

You truely are an inspiration to all of us! We ALL LOVE you so incredibly much.

+Shine the Light+ (you’re doing a mighty fine job of doing this)

  9. Gene & Shirley Murphy Says:

I read the blog this am when I got up and it was not updated and I prayed for you and the family and I just now read the good news that you are probably on your way to UVA as I write this. Praise the Lord for another miracle! I can’t wait to see what the Lord will do next for you!
Gene is on his way home today from Mississippi (a group from church went down last week to do whatever work is needed on some homes for people from Bible Study Baptist Church) I’m anxious for him to get back. I’m sure he will have some interesting stories about how the Lord has blessed them.
Katy, I love you very much and Gene and I will continue to pray for His will for you. Girl, you are blessing more people than you know. Keep stong and keep on hanging on to His robe!
Much love to ALL of you’

  10. Julie Wensley Says:

Hey Sweet Katy! I can’t believe you’re not here. I miss you already. What am I going to do tonight??!! I have been so blessed by your spirit especially the last several weeks, or should I say God’s spirit shining through you. You are truly a reflection of Jesus. We are praying that you would be surrounded by a blanket of comfort all the way to UVA. We love you!

    ~Aunt Julie

  11. Julie Wensley Says:

P.S. Don’t forget to hide your Hokie Lotion!

  12. Chris Griffith Says:

Laura and I have just prayed for you. We understand you’re having a difficult journey in the ambulance as it travels to Charlottesville. May the Lord Christ be with you and may the God of all comfort strengthen you and uphold you with his kindness.

I know this time has been difficult for you, but we can trust that the Lord is good. His ways often go beyond our understanding. What we know for sure, is that we can trust him.

“Then he isn’t safe?” said Lucy.

“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver.”…Who said anything about being safe? Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good.”

“God is his own interpreter and he will make it plain.” –William Cowper

We love you Katy and we will continue to pray for you.

    Your friend,

  13. Carole St.Clair Says:

Sorry I have not written sooner, I just heard that you had been back in the hospital and for such a long time.
I knew back in August that you had gotten out but did not relize you had gone back in. I am praying for you and so is my family. Hannah and Rebekah constantly ask about you. I read Colin’s update that you would be going to UVA today. We are praying for you and your family for strength. It has been wonderful to read how God has ministered to you during this time and revealed himmself to you in a greater way. God is using you and your family. I love you and I am praying for you and that God will continue to reveal Himself to you along this hard road. Dawn I love you! I am praying for you.
    Love and prayers,
    Carole St.Clair

  14. val hughes - u.k. Says:

My dear Katy, The Atlantic is between us, but it is as if the miles just do not exist. Lizy has kept me fully posted regarding your troubled times and how you have so bravely faced each moment, along with Mum and Dad. God Bless you Katy, my thoughts and prayers are with you constantly and I eagerly await to hear the laughter we shared together, we will be able to do again soon. With my love to you, dear Katy, Dawn and Paul.
