I took Katy to the doctor yesterday because her feet were so bad she couldn’t walk on them any more. Her platelet count has fallen by 70,000 and her white cell count is up. The doctor said, “It appears that something is lurking; I want to see her again and draw more labs on Monday.” This news was difficult. It was hard to take and I am boldly asking God for a miracle. Just the term “something is lurking,” reminded me of a prowling lion “seeking whom he may devour.” So along with our devotions last night I prayed and begged the Lord for a miracle and a delight. You probably know what a God delight is already. It’s one of those unexpected pleasures that loudly proclaims His hand at work. I wanted just a spark of His goodness that would help us through the next few days. So…..

We woke up to clear blue sunny skies and at 9:30 Colin called to say that Jennifer was in labor five days early! He just called again from the hospital and Jenn’s labor is progressing quickly and the doctor has already been called! Now, is that DELIGHT? Sometime today a brand new sweet baby will be entering this world, and right now we are thanking God for His marvelous delights. Katy is able to walk on her feet this morning, and we are all getting ready to drive over to the hospital to wait. How great is His love for us! We’ll update as soon as we can announce the arrival!

  1. Jennifer S. :-) Says:

WOW!!! I’m praying the new baby is delivered safely and Jenn will come through with flying colors!!
Katy, I’m praying that the doctors find whatever is lurking. Hang in there!!
    Love and prayers,
    Jen :-)

  2. Jen L. Says:

Praying for Jenn (and Colin too) that the delivery will go well and this new little one will arrive safely. Keep us updated!!

Will be praying this weekend that Katy will miraculously be healed of whatever’s “lurking”.

    Hugs to you all!!

  3. Doris Harriff Says:

    Dear Dawn and Katy,
What a rollercoaster it has been for you and your family since July! Let’s hope the medical profession will be able to quickly identify and eradicate whatever is “lurking.”

And congrats on being a grandma, Dawn! (I have no doubt that you will be by the time you read this). It is a great profession. More fun even than being a Mom - at least, if they live relatively close to you.

Glad you’re feeling better today, Katy.

    To God be the glory!

  4. Carson Kistner Says:

    Dawn, Katy, and family,

This is particularly awesome news since I awoke at 6 a.m. this morning with the distinct impression that I should pray for Colin, Jenn, and baby. Since I also got an impression as to the gender, I will be eager to hear if I was really hearing correctly! (You may remember that I thought the Lord told me that Julia would be a boy!!)

    Eagerly awaiting the news,

  5. Julie Wensley Says:

Wow! We have been without internet since Wednesday night. And had cell phone issues too! Exciting and wonderful news! Call me when you get a chance. We’re praying!

  6. Karen Tillman Says:

    Oh Dawn,

I know you must be truly excited!!! Please give my best to the happy couple, and I will be remembering Katy’s upcoming labs on Monday. Take care and I can hardly wait to hear the news!!!
    Love Always
