Sometime during the night last night, Katy began waking up and complaining about her hands and arms hurting. It got so bad that she was shaking and distraught so I got her some medication for pain and checked it out. For some reason the palms of her hands are swollen and red again, as well as patches on the bottoms of her feet. The nerves are raw and send piercing pain up her arms and legs. I’m not sure what is causing this. The only medication she is using is Prednisone and I haven’t found any evidence that this is a common side effect of steroid use. We are praying that she will have relief soon because her pain medication doesn’t last beyond two hours. The last time this happened it took about two weeks for her nerve endings to settle dow

In other news, we were able to have a lovely family dinner tonight and had after-dinner harp music. For anyone interested in hearing some great harp Christmas music, this coming Friday night Whitney Dobyns will be playing downtown at De Espresso from 7:30 to 9:30. Paul Burton will be playing a couple of pieces with her. The after-dinner harp music was so soothing tonight that we brought a cot into the dining room where Whitney was playing and Katy laid down on it and fell into a deep sleep. She woke up about thirty minutes after Whitney left and said, “I fell asleep on her again!” So anyone reading this blog with insomnia problems might want to try one of Whitney’s CDs for Christmas!

    Dear Katy,
Sounds like you are really having a time of it there!! I am so sry to hear about the pain, and wish we could figure out what that is all about. I don’t know of any prednisone reactions with that either. The bone pain was bad enough!
Sounds like the harp music was just what you needed. I guess it goes to prove that music soothes the savage beast!!! grin Anything to get your mind off the pain. Btw…do you know if Whitney has a website? If so, you should post it so that maybe we could sample some of her music. I LOVE good harp music!!!
Anyway gotta run for now. I have a friend in ICU who is fighting for her life as we speak. If you’d like to learn more you can see more on Heather’s blog. I will tell you that it is not HPS related, but still to see someone suffer breaks my heart. Karen B. has been a devoted friend for a long time. Gotta run keeping you and many others in my prayers
    Love always
    Karen Tillman

I’m so sorry to learn that you are in such intense pain again. Praying that God will touch you Dear One.
