“Katy can eventually get back to her normal daily life.”

That’s what the doctor in Chapel Hill told us! She was very attentive. She listened to us describe the last six months with all its ups and downs, and calmly stated that Katy should be seeing much better results after six months of treatments. She had already read the records that had been sent to her by Katy’s Roanoke doctors. From there she formulated a plan and told us about the details which will include working with a specialist from the University of Virginia. The plan is to treat Katy with a drug that will help her cells cooperate and stop attacking her digestive system. It is not without risks, but we are all at peace about trying something that could help Katy have a better quality of life.

When we drove into the driveway a few minutes ago Katy said, “God answered all our prayers.” He had. She coped very well with the traveling. With a little pain medication and her favorite blanket and a pillow, she slept most of the way there and back. She was also able to eat something for lunch. This weekend we will increase her steroids back up to their previous level, try to get her GI tract to settle down, and next week begin this new therapy. We thank the HPS family in North Carolina for telling us about your doctor in Chapel Hill. She really is amazing and thorough. We know the knowledge she has of this disease is a result of all you have been through. Our hearts go out to you.

We are again relying on the truth of the word of God. Our hope is in Him. We hope Katy can tolerate the new drug, and that is how we will pray, but we are content to leave the results to Him.

Yea for the good car trip and the productive visit! There is nothing quite like a good blanket and a pillow for traveling in my book - I would much rather sleep and just appear at my destination than sit for hours - maybe it’s because all I can think about is sleep right now!!

We are praising God for all the answered prayers!
    Love you!
    Jes
