Remicade Day!

EVENING UPDATE 7:30 pm Katy’s treatment today went smoothly. She has already had some relief. She said she is very tired and plans to go to bed early. She has not asked for any pain medication since the treatment started at 1:00. We are so grateful!

This morning Katy woke up at 4:30. We prayed for more people and events. We thanked the Lord for the prayer times we’ve had in the middle of the night knowing without the pain there would be no prayer. We have had some conversations lately about two words, “eternal rest.” It sounds so sweet to those who soldier on in trials with the knowledge that there is sweet rest coming for those who believe.

By 5:00 am we decided it would be fun to have an early breakfast to celebrate “Remicade Day.” We got our coffee and biscuits and sat in the living room facing east. At first we could see the sky brightening, but then it turned pink, orange, purple, lavender, blue, and white. It changed hue every few seconds and we sat whispering with amazement at the gorgeous display of color. What a show! We thanked the Lord for His awesome display, finished our coffee and went back to bed. We will be leaving the house in a few minutes for the hospital. Thank you for keeping our spirits light through your prayers and humor. James, if we have another pet, we’ll name it “Peeve!” Thank you so much for all the laughter. It was a gift!

Jesus, I Am Resting, Resting

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

    What a wonderful way to spend the wee morning hours! I love sunrises and sunsets. I hope Remicade Day goes very smoothly. You’re all in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Bob, Amy, Emily, Meredith and Abby Says:

    Thanks for posting that verse and chorus. I had never heard of “Jesus, I am Resting, Resting,” until you mentioned it… Now it’s a favorite (though I’m still searching for the music).

    We had a “God is Faithful” moment this weekend: We had gotten 2 of 3 ordered chicks 4 wks ago. Abby latched onto one, and Meredith another, but I knew that Emily wanted a brown egg layer, and that was the one that Meredith latched onto. After some discussion, Meres gave the chick to Emily (aaaaww). Meredith had talked about having a Rhode Island Red named Rhoda for weeks, but the last one to come was a white leghorn. Except, the next week, they were still back ordered, and two weeks later, the order was canceled (eek!). Having two chicks and three girls is not good, but the lady with whom we combined our order found another lady who would sell us a chick of the same age. She came to the door on Saturday and handed Meredith… a Rhode Island Red! Her name is Rhoda, and everyone is doing fine.

    “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
