Katy’s New Doctor

We left the hospital today with so much hope and joy in our hearts that I told Katy even the sky looked bluer and the clouds fluffier. Her new doctor is committed to Katy. It was obvious from the beginning of the appointment. He left his morning appointments open for just one patient; Katy. She explained the physical challenges of the last year and the course of treatments she had been given. Two hours into the story he began to formulate a plan of action and discussed options with her. Before we left his office he stuck his head back into the room and said, “I was watching the clock this morning waiting for you to get here because I was looking forward to meeting you!” He has ordered many tests that should help him get a better picture of how Katy’s body is functioning.

Paul and I have been praying as hard as we knew how for a day like this. I know many many others have too. When we told the doctor we were a family with a very strong faith in God he seemed interested. I asked him about his own faith and with a bright cheerful smile he said, “Well, I can tell you I’m a Christian!” Katy and I were bold and told him about Katy’s heavenly encouragement during her suffering. It was such a blessing to see him respond with smiles, questions, and positive comments. We feel like we are on the edge of an adventure and we’ll keep telling you the story as it unfolds.

Great is thy faithfulness, Oh God, my Father.

Hallelujah! I’ve been watching for this report all afternoon long! Oh, Praise the Lord! What a gift He has given you! May all Heaven’s graces attend this dear doctor, may he make many new discoveries about HPS that will make a great contribution to helping others as well as Katy with this difficult, mysterious snydrome. May the Lord open his understanding and give him insight far beyond his own. And Oh, Abba, Father please bring some lasting relief soon, we ask in the Name of your dear son, the Lord Jesus. Much love, with joy! Aunt Lil

Hallelujah! That’s the only word I wanted to say, and, no, I didn’t look at the one above.

  3. Aleah Yunger Says:

God is certainly the Great Physician, but praise Him that He has given us a few dedicated doctors here on earth too! It is so easy to go through life and not care… but God has obviously given this doctor a heart for those who suffer. I pray for you, Katy & Dawn, since it must be hard to relive everything you’ve been through and try to explain it all over again. But I pray for this doctor too — God has brought your story into his life to touch him as it has all of us, and I pray he can bring you some new answers. What wonderful, merciful news!!! Love in Christ, Aleah

  4. Bob, Amy, Emily, Meredith and Abby Says:

I am so excited to hear about Katy’s new doctor. Finally someone who wants to spend his time learning about her case. I know that the LORD has great things in store.

Emily and I are leaving for the airport in just a few minutes. We will be in touch again after Slovakia. Maybe I can even check the blog from there.

    Love to all,
    Amy and family
