We stayed home from church today with Katy. We have all missed so much sleep that we honestly didn’t have the energy to get ready for church. Katy appears to be fighting another infection, this time in her sinuses. Her right eye had been giving her a lot of trouble for two days and I got concerned about what it might be considering all the time we were at the hospital and what she may have picked up there. I emailed her doctor and he got right on it.

Her doctor has prescribed an antibiotic for a sinus infection so that is making her sleepy. She also started the prednisone taper yesterday and that has zapped her energy. Right now she is sleeping and doesn’t have the strength to do anything but eat a little bit. So we are staying close, helping her the best we can. Last night we were talking with her doctor about the fact that Katy has had three infections in the past month. He pointed out how remarkable it is that with Katy’s year-long battle she has not had pneumonia. We have so much to be thankful for so our prayers always include thanksgiving for the mighty way God has sustained Katy. The fact that she has a doctor to care for her on a Saturday and made a house call to check on her last night is another huge gift from the Lord. Please keep him and his family in your prayers because they seek to honor Him in all they do. We are so grateful to the Lord for sending him.

  4. Jes Says:

    Hey guys!
Sorry about the infection - we continue to pray for Katy! Here is a poem inspired by Jennifer’s post last week! :)

    Sinus infections are no fun
Makes you want to hide and run
But face today with cheerful heart
God knows what you need before you start!

    Love ya!

I know your doctor checks this blog, so I just want to say what a great guy he is. His compassion for Katy has lead him to go the extra mile medically for her. My faith is strengthened as I see such servants of God use their gifts & abilities to bring about His purposes.

  6. Lillian Oliveira Says:

Yes, indeed, God’s blessings on this dear Doctor! Long may he endure!
And who knows, perhaps with the cortisone taper going on, some anti-biotic in the system may be good for more than the sinus infection - warding of other unknown threats. May Katy sleep much today, as well, and I hope you two, Paul and Dawn, have gotten rested on God’s Day of Rest. What a blessing, indeed, that He made a Rest Day for us! You are always in my prayers… Love, Aunt Lil
