Thursday Evening

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” -James 1:17

Today was full of “good gifts” from the Lord! This morning, I had a follow-up appointment with the surgeon who performed my hysterectomy. When he walked into the room where I was, he had papers in his hand. He handed me the papers and said, “I know how much you pay attention to detail and enjoy medical things, so here are copies of your operation and pathology reports.” I was so pleased! The pathology report said everything looked “normal,” except my ovaries which had numerous cystic follicles (beginning cysts) on them. The surgeon said it was a good thing I had everything removed, because had I not had the ovaries removed, I would be facing another surgery in the near future. Praise the Lord that is one medical procedure I do not have to face! Over all, the surgeon was very pleased with the healing process. I have another appointment with him in two weeks.

Mom and I headed into town this evening for a “girls night out” since Dad and Paul Burton had to work late. Mom and I even ate at a Chinese restaurant before shopping. It is such a rare treat to eat out, especially now with my health issues and restricted diet. However, on this evening, I was able to savor the flavors. Mom and I shopped at the local Christian store and Target, where we found some nice deals. I bought a new WOW Hymns CD collection, so Mom and I were able to praise the Lord with our voices on the way home. It was a wonderful way to end a pleasant day!

The times Mom and I share are meaningful. With Qavah coming, I know our time together- just the two of us- will be limited. So, I’m very thankful for the time we’ve had this past year. Many hours have been spent laughing, crying, and praying together. Tonight, as I enjoyed my evening with Mom outside of the hospital, I thought of how joyful it will be when we can spend eternity together without the cares of this world. For this evening, though, I’m sure the “Father of heavenly lights” watched with delight as His children enjoyed the good gifts He provided them.

It was so good to read your own words about your progress. I’m glad you and your mom could enjoy all the blessings of a day spent having fun! I keep you in my prayers and look forward to seeing you soon.

    Hi Girls,

How wonderful to witness the close relationship a godly adult mother and daughter can experience. You two are truly blessed and I thank you for letting us share your funny/serious/challenging moments and especially those spent in the company of our Lord!!

Dear Katy, Yes, indeed, how great that you were able to have your day out with your mom, and do some shopping! Reminded me of the day we did some shopping together when I was there, and found the light green woven hats that we used for flower containers for the deck tables. A happy memory.

That verse you started out with is one of my favorites - and it had a special meaning in my life. It was the one verse that I had written in my devotional diary the day that Tony had his vision of me, before we met …. or else the day he wrote and asked me to meet him in Lisbon… I think maybe that was it. After 22 years, it gets a little vague!

I hope and pray you are having a wonderful day today, too. And be careful about that bedrest - I’m guessing you are pretty tired today.
May the Lord Jesus be near and may you worship the Father - the Father of Lights! Is He beautiful!

    Love, Aunt Lil
