Halfway Home

I spoke with Mom awhile ago and our conversation was wonderful. They are doing very well…all three of them! Mom and Dad were in Mississippi when I called them, but they’ll be spending the night in Alabama. Their goal is to leave early enough in the morning that they can drive the remaining eight hours home and still arrive here mid-to-late afternoon. Mom really wants to be able to attend church on Sunday.

Qavah continues to bond with Mom and Dad. Mom said she is very smart, musical, and has a joyful laugh that,, “I am going to love.” I’m sure Qavah’s presence and spirit is going to bless many people right away.

Mom bought Qavah some shoes with buckles, and handed them to Qavah, thinking she would just play with them. Well, her little tongue started to stick out and she got this real serious look on her face. About ten minutes later, Qavah said, “Look, Mommy!” Mom turned around and Qavah had figured out how to do the buckle on the shoe! Mom said she took lots of pictures, and since they are digital, I might be able to post at least one tomorrow night.

I cannot believe it is already Friday night. A big thank you to everyone who came and helped me this week. Today, I had two different ladies arrive in “shifts” to help me babysit Annelise. I also had a family from our church help Paul Burton and I mulch and clean the house. Everyone who has come to visit has done so with joy and a servant’s heart. I have seen Jesus in you and I hope you were blessed being in our home. Another big thank you to everyone who has prayed for us. There have been so many answers to prayers this week! As our journey continues, we look forward to sharing with you the delights of getting to know our newest family member…

  2. Ib & Patricia Says:

What joy in the Lord! Relax and enjoy and being ready to see what God has in store for each of you!!

  3. Lillian Oliveira Says:

Katy dear, it seems this has been a good week for you and has gone faster than you anticipated. PTL! And blessings on all who helped you, and especially on you and P. B. for doing the mulch and house cleaning. Now everyone is free to play with the new sister/daughter!

I’m praying that Qavah will sleep in her car seat a good bit of the travel time, so that the trip will not seem so long and weary to her. Every little bit we learn about her is really special! I’m coming to your church on Sunday, too!!! DON’T I WISH! Love, Aunt Lil

  4. Lillian Oliveira Says:

Oops! Semantic error! I should have said the week had gone faster than you “expected”… anticipation is something good you want to happen. I was corrected on that misusage by a college professor in a English comp course about a thousand years ago… :-) )) Aunt Lil

  5. Jes Says:

    Hey Guys!
I had to run to Food Lion this evening and as I passed your house I noticed the pink balloons and the ‘it’s a girl’ sign! It totally brought a smile to my face - to think of you turning into your driveway and having those balloons be the first thing that Qavah sees! I’m sure you all are worn out - we hope to see you tomorrow am! Congratulations and welcome home Qavah!

    Love ya!
