New and Joyful Beginnings

My evening with Fairlgiht was delightful! We were able to clean the fridge and polish the silver while catching up. Thank you, Fairlight, for your help and company!

It is 10:00pm and I just finished talking with Mom. Since, it’s only 9:00pm there, they were finishing their shopping trip at Wal-Mart before heading back to the hotel. I could hear Qavah in the background. The two girls (mom and daughter) were laughing, because Qavah had hiccups. Our conversation was short, but my heart is overflowing with God’s goodness.

Dad and Mom spent the entire day with Qavah at the foster family’s home. Tonight for dinner, they had real, Louisiana gumbo! Mom said it was delicious. Dad finished packing and loading all of Qavah’s toys and belongings. Then, when it was time for Mom and Dad to leave, the foster mom turned to Qavah and said, “Well, are you ready to go now? Give me kisses.” Qavah gave the foster mom kisses, jumped into Dad’s (Paul’s) arms, and exclaimed, “Come on Daddy!” The foster mom turned to Mom and said, “This has got to be the Lord! It’s like He has whispered to Qavah that you are now her parents.” I asked Mom, “So Qavah has bonded with you?” She replied, “Oh yes!”

I was truly touched by Qavah’s response to your parents, and i know you are just dying to get your arms around her too. I will be praying that all will continue to go well.

  2. Lillian Oliveira Says:

OH MY GOODNESS! Oh, my goodness! Lord, how You have answered our prayers beyond our highest dreams. Paul, if you didn’t get a leap of joy in your heart when Qavah said “Come on, Daddy!” you’re not the man I’m sure you are! I’d have been crying buckets. Dawn, how wonderful to have that time with her in the hospital! You will be truly bonded together when you get home! In fact, Qavah may have trouble sharing HER daddy and mama with the other siblings! What wonderfully exciting times. We’ll all be praying you home safely. Love, Aunt Lil

  3. Julie Says:

My heart is smiling for all of you. Seems Qavah is already a part of your loving family. Enjoy your new journey together.

  4. Bob, Amy, Emily, Meredith and Abby Says:

What a sweet beginning! I am so glad that all went well with the foster family releasing her to Paul and Dawn. And it sounds like Qavah was ready to go with her new Daddy and Mommy! God is so good! This story of His goodness made me cry this morning! Love to you all. We can’t wait to meet Qavah. It won’t be long now……

This is such an answer to the fervent prayers of so many. We thank you and praise You Lord.

  6. Jenice Says:

I second Jim and Lynda, answered prayer! The Lord has undoubtedly told Qavah who you are and whose she is! Praise God. Continued joy and blessings be upon you all.

  7. Doris Harriff Says:

Oh, what an exciting response! I’m sure this has produced tears among a lot of people!

  8. Jennifer Blugerman Says:

If only people would jump into the waiting arms of their heavenly Father with such quick enthusiasm! What a picture! We are all anxiously awaiting your return and can’t wait to meet Qavah!

  9. Jes Says:

Ok - I’m one of the tearful ones right now! I’m so thankful that things are going well and that Qavah is already falling in love with her new parents - they sure are good ones!! :) I second Jennifer’s comment - we can’t wait to meet her and welcome her into our church family!

We love ya’ll and will continue to pray for the rest of the trip!

  10. Mike Theesfield Says:

    Hi, Katy!
I’m glad your health is better, because I suspect that Qavah is going to run you ragged!
