Sunday Evening

This is just going to be a medical update. Mom is planning to write a bunch on Dawn’s Musings once the suitcases are unpacked and life returns to normal (?!).

Qavah was feeling pretty strong today and so was I, thus everyone attended Church this morning. It was a blessing to worship with our church family and have them welcome Qavah. This afternoon, Qavah and I took a nap. Then, we had small group this evening. We were able to rejoice and praise the Lord for the many ways He answered prayers this past week. I have a special health-related prayer request tonight. Tomorrow morning, I begin the Prednisone taper again. This time, I will be going down from 20mg to 17.5mg every other day for two weeks. If this latest attempt is not successful, I am willing to wait to begin the taper until the Imuran has been in my body a full twelve weeks (tomorrow begins week four). However, I am praying the taper will work and my adrenal system will begin to function on its own. Recently, I heard someone remark that Prednisone is a “miracle drug, but also a brutal drug.” How true that is! Prednisone has done its job and now I am praying I no longer need it.

  1. Lillian Oliveira Says:

Oh, Katy, I do, indeed pray FERVENTLY that this taper will be successful - that Jesus will give you a little lift up by just touching those adrenals and helping them turn on again. May it be done, Oh, Father Almighty we pray, in Jesus’ Name. And I pray that Katy will soon return to her normal before-prenisdone size. And we thank you SO MUCH that this hormone you created in us has given her so much relief and help in these months past. We thank you Father. You are so good to us!

Love to you all, Aunt Lil

  2. Bob, Amy, Emily, Meredith and Abby Says:

Glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. Prayers have and will be going up for your Prednisone taper, Katy! We are excited about Qavah and can’t wait to meet her. :0) I love all the pics so far, especially the one where is looking up at Paul. Her eyes seem to be filled with love! :0)

    Love to all,
    The Collins
