Eye Drops

I think we hit a record last night for the least amount of sleep yet. Kathryn's electrolyte problems started around midnight and by four in the morning, I started massaging her legs and back because they were so sore from her tense muscles. Magnesium is a tricky electrolyte to balance because without it muscles get tense and toes curl under, but too much magnesium causes muscle weakness and causes the legs to feel like rubber bands. As I was working on Kathryn I saw a light turn on in the hallway. I saw little Qavah standing with her pacifier, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her legs were hurting. I woke Paul up and told him what was happening, so he got up with Qavah and held her in the recliner until she fell back to sleep. Kathryn and I heard the early birds chirping and watched the sky turn pink. What a night. In those early morning hours we prayed and enjoyed the presence of the Lord in such a profound way. He sees all these things and there are countless times I have felt His nearness as close as a whisper.

Paul and I continue to be given strength upon strength for this ministry to our daughters. We discovered an eye lubricant that not only takes the red out of our sleepy eyes, it helps us look like we've had a full night of sleep. We are getting around well today preparing for Qavah's baptism tomorrow. The girls had a slow start this morning but they both are feeling better. We look forward to sundown and a day of Sabbath rest.

Holy, Holy, Holy,
Lord God almighty,
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee.

Only thou are Holy,
Merciful and mighty,
God in three Persons,
Blessed trinity

  1. Dawn, I've been waiting and watching for this post, supposing things were not going well. For you all to have had such a night and end up with that note of deep and reverent praise to the Almighty - that is powerful. May the Lord grant all a long night of sleep and all feeling well for the special baptism tomorrow. I'm sure everyone who reads this, like me, wishes they could be there! I'll be praying special blessings on Qavah and each of you. Love, Aunt Lil

  3. Looks like your eyes and mind were doing double/triple duty when you posted this. ;) I do hope Kathryn and Qavah are both doing better now, and everything will be fine for Qavah's baptism tomorrow.

  5. :( What a night... You will be in my prayers tonight -- you make me thankful for the sleep I get, I can tell you that for sure! Praying for Qavah -- God is so faithful to have blessed her life with your family. Love to you tonight and tomorrow, Aleah.

PS Please be in prayer for a good friend of mine who is struggling with her faith and falling farther away from God every day. She needs His loving direction and to draw back to Him. Whenever you find time, please lift her up to Him!

  6. Aleah,

Thank you for sharing this Prayer Request. I will pray for your friend tonight, as I'm about to head to bed early for a little devotional time before falling asleep.

"Lord, may you grant Aleah wisdom in reaching out to her friend. May this friend feel Your love through Aleah. I pray you will draw this friend to Yourself and that the joy she once found in You will return. You said that those who seek You will find You, so I pray this friend will seek You with her whole heart. May she adopt you, since You, Lord, have already adopted her. In Jesus' Name, Amen"

  7. I just talked to Dawn. They are having high wind troubles and are without power until as late as Wednesday. She cannot therefore update the blog. We were with them for Qavah's baptism, and had a pleasant Sunday dinner with them at Colin and Jenns. Both of the girls had a good night last night, and seemed to be doing well today.
