Kathryn has been contacted with the results of her liver and pancreas testing. Her amylase and lipase levels are too high causing her to feel very sick and unable to eat.  The doctor called tonight and worked out a plan that we think will keep her out of the hospital.  Having had pancreatitis three times before, she knew before the test results were in that her pancreas was was in trouble again.  Hydration has been the main problem, so she'll begin to receive that at home along with an IV antibiotic.  She'll only be able to take in ice chips and light fluids for awhile until she can handle food again.

The option of being at home is such a blessing for Kathryn.  Her spirit is strong, but in the hospital with all the night time interruptions, she feels worse and starts to wither.  We know that many of you have joined us in praying Kathryn through these time so I will add some specific requests.  Please pray that Kathryn will feel God's comfort physically and emotionally.  Pray that her body weight will be sustained and that the medication she will receive will turn this problem around quickly.  I'm asking these things not for Kathryn's glory, but for the glory and praise she gives Him for any healing she receives.

This evening we watched the Ben Carson Story with the girls.  I had read the book so I knew the story.  We all watched as a young boy named Ben from the ghetto in Detroit cried out to God for help in curbing his temper.  From that time on, he developed a love for classical music and reading and went on to become a brain surgeon known around the world.  When we are faced with difficult circumstances there are always options.  After nearly stabbing a classmate in junior high school, Ben Carson went to God in prayer for help.  There is no greater help than that which comes from Him.
Psalm 121:2
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

  2. Psalm 121 Prayer.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills - the beautiful Virginia hills...
Where does Kathryn's help come from? It comes, like the "everlasting hills", from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

    Lord, don't let Kathryn's "foot slip" - may she not be overwhelmed with the pain and the fasting;

Let her sleep, Lord, for You who watch over her never slumber nor sleep.

Be her shade, her protection, don't let the fiery attacks of Satan like the burning sun discourage and distress her days.
Don't let the chill of the night's moon - yet another siege of pain, do her any spiritual harm.

Keep her, Lord, from all harm - don't allow her body to be further damaged by the prednisone and other medications she must use. Watch over her precious life, Lord. She is so precious to you. You have TRUSTED her with great difficulties, she is privileged to have earned your trust, Lord. Give her the daily grace and strength as you have promised - strength for the day and the long hours.

Watch over her goings to the Dr. and comings home. May the Drs be given special wisdom and may Paul Burton be helped and given a special blessing for starting and watching over her IVs at home.

Lord, we praise you, because we KNOW that you will watch over her life, both now and forevermore.

    Amen

Dearest Kathryn, keep up the brave fight, we are all praying for you and loving you, day and night.

  3. Once again comments are welcome! Great!

(Not that I have anything very significant to say tonight, but I trust you have solved the earlier problems.)

It's been quite a while since there have been any updates on Kathryn's harp playing...

Acute pancreatitis is no fun ... been there, done that. May God grant K peace and her body, healing.

    Love you guys!

  4. Dear Kathryn,
I am praying for you, for your body to continue to heal. I pray that you are feeling restful tonight. You are so precious and I can't stand for you to suffer. I know the Lord is looking after you and He is the Great Physician.

Please pray for my family as well, especially my 4 kids: Chad, Kalley, Caleb and Karina. Being a mom is the hardest job I've ever loved:)
Take care, sweet one. Love, Marcie
